Amazing Citi Handlowy team in the triathlon relay during IRONMAN 70.3 Warsaw
Once again, the Citi Handlowy team will take part in the IRONMAN 70.3 Warsaw competition. More than 30 teams will take part in the 5,150 relay race: Citi employees in Poland, corporate clients and Paralympic champions. Together, they take up the challenge to enable children and young people with disabilities to learn about the joy and passion of practicing sport by achieving sports success at the finish line: throughout the year, several dozen children from all over Polish will be able to train their chosen discipline in sports sections and participate in training camps with specialized facilities.
“Together with our clients and partners, we are adding new chapters to the 40-year history of triathlon in Poland. Achieving the intended goal, in business, as well as in a triathlon relay, depends on the cooperation of the entire team and is based on trust”, says Maciej Kropidłowski, Vice President of Citi Handlowy, who supports projects implemented as part of the Live Well at Citi program and actively participates in the IRONMAN competition in the relay at the cycling stage.
Citi Handlowy is a partner of the IRONMAN Poland competition for the seventh year in a row. Year by year, it helps to build more and more interest in this discipline, getting involved in each edition not only as a sponsor, but also as an active participant. In 2018, the Citi Handlowy team was represented by 12 relay teams, and a year ago by over 30 teams and over 100 athletes! Every year, their sports struggles translate into support for those for whom sport is often only a dream.
The team that will represent the bank this year is extraordinary. Citi Handlowy's employees and clients are joined by titled paraathletes – multi-medalists of the European Championships, the World Championships and the Paralympic Games: the President of the Polish Paralympic Committee Łukasz Szeliga, the Paralympian Wojtek Makowski and the Polish Paratriathlon Champion Natasza Jaworska. Citi Handlowy is constantly engaged in activities conducive to building a more inclusive society. In cooperation with the Polish Paralympic Committee and paraathletes, it wants to help in the social activation of people with disabilities. Thanks to the "Be Active" project, children and young people with disabilities from all over Poland will be able to participate in sports training and camps throughout the year, and they will discover the benefits of practicing sports under the care of specially trained, certified coaching staff and assistants.
“For years, together with the Polish Paralympic Committee, we have been working for a more integrated, open society and together we have been changing the perception of disability. We hope that our effort along the route of the competition will help many very young people discover the joy and passion that sport gives”, says Olek Łakomski, Financial Markets Sales Director at Citi Handlowy, triathlete and Citi Handlowy team player.
