In connection with the situation in Ukraine, we provide support to those affected by the following situation

Since the first day of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the Citi Handlowy Foundation has been actively supporting Ukrainian citizens in Poland and responding to the current needs resulting from the crisis caused by the war. Initially, these were spontaneous activities in the form of collections of the most needed items and trips of Citi volunteers to the Polish-Ukrainian border, and from 2023, creating its own Fund for the Integration of Ukrainian refugees into Polish society. Today, Ukrainian citizens constitute the largest national minority in Poland and care for their integration should be a multi-year project.

The program covers the full spectrum of the Citi Handlowy Foundation's activities: intervention assistance, competence volunteering, sports volunteering, support for entrepreneurs, support for women, education and support for children and youth. An important element of the activities undertaken is also initiating a public debate on further support for the integration of Ukrainian citizens in Poland.

The program is implemented in close cooperation with representatives of Citibank Ukraine and third sector organizations - associations and foundations that support Ukrainian citizens. All these activities were undertaken both as part of programs financed by the Citi Foundation and projects coordinated and supported substantively by the Citi Handlowy Foundation.

Activities undertaken:

  1. Organization of webinars and online events for teachers and parents, which touched not only on the topic of integration of children and youth from Poland and Ukraine, but also: how to talk to children about conflict and war, how to help wisely, how to immunize yourself and children against disinformation, how to create community in a multinational group.
  2. Cooperation with the Polish Center for International Aid, within the framework of which:

    •   organization of the "Ukrainian Mother's Day" for women and children under the care of the organization
    •   The Citi Handlowy Foundation coordinated, together with #CitiVolunteers from Citi Ukraine, the Children's Day, during which Ukrainian students visited the headquarters of Citi Handlowy at ul. Senatorska in Warsaw, and also had the opportunity to talk to #CitiVolunteers about what it's like to work at the Bank and how to manage your education if you want to develop professionally in banking.
    •   The "Summer in the City" initiative was supported for children who the organization supports in continuing their education in accordance with the Ukrainian curriculum.
    •   The EFNI talks event was organized entitled "Ukraine-Poland - the refugee crisis in a new phase?"
  3. In 2024, the Citi Handlowy Foundation, together with the "Ukrainian House" Foundation, implemented the Comprehensive Support for Ukrainians on the Polish Labor Market program. The project began in December 2023 and was continued in the first half of 2024. Its goal was to create a holistic assistance program for Ukrainian citizens in the process of entering the Polish labor market. The program included: consultations conducted by #CitiVolunteers, Polish language and computer programs courses, a mentoring program implemented by #CitiVolunteers, networking and information meetings attended by specialists from specific industries and refugees.

As part of the program, a report was also prepared analyzing the main challenges faced by Ukrainian citizens on the Polish labor market. The report will also allow for more effective support for this group in their professional development in the future.

As a result of the actions taken:

    •   510 people took advantage of consultations including assistance in searching for a job, preparing application documents, preparing for a job interview and analyzing employment documents.
    •   27 people took part in a business Polish language course.
    •   36 people took part in online business Polish language seminars.
    •   183 people completed a Microsoft Excel course.
    •   89 people took part in individual mentoring meetings and group webinars.
  4. The Foundation for Supporting Educational Initiatives "Absolwent" supported a project that shapes refugees and their families' sense of belonging to the local communities of Warmia and Mazury.
  5. Coordination by the Mamo Pracuj Foundation of the Welcome Program, financed by the Citi Foundation and supported substantively by the Citi Handlowy Foundation. The aim is to support Polish and Ukrainian women in their professional development and create a community supporting career building. As part of the program, #CitiVolunteers support participants as mentors. The program has been implemented since 2022.
  6. As part of the intervention assistance, collections of gifts in kind and their distribution to organizations supporting refugees have been organized since 2022. #CitiVolunteers also regularly engage in activities supporting Ukrainian citizens during Global Community Day and as part of the Become Santa's Assistant project.
