Earth Day with Citi Poland: Customers Give Up Paper Statements, Bank Handlowy to Plant 40,000 Trees in the Spring

On April 22, 2008, in the Uroczysko-Bemowo forest, as part of the Earth Day celebration, Citi Handlowy, together with its employees and invited guests, inaugurated a tree planting project called "More Trees Thanks To You." The participants of this initiative planted the first few hundred oaks. And that is just a beginning because as part of the "More Trees Thanks To You" project this spring as many as 40,000 trees will be planted in the Mazowieckie Province alone.

"More Trees Thanks To You" is a partnership program of Citi Handlowy, its Kronenberg Foundation and the "Our Earth" Foundation. As part of this initiative in the spring of 2008 some areas of the Mazowieckie Province, which suffers from the lack of "green corridors" (enabling the migration of species and plants), will be afforested. Other afforesting initiatives aimed at creating or enhancing "green corridors" are also planned in subsequent years in other provinces.

Trees are planted under the supervision and according to the plan of afforestation/reforestation and creation of "green corridors" approved by Lasy Panstwowe/The State Forests/. All tree-planting participants take part in special workshops aimed at increasing the knowledge on the importance of trees and forests for the environment, climate protection and economy.
