Volunteer's Ticket to Culture - 1st edition of the campaign

On 5 December 2016 we will celebrate the International Volunteer Day, established by the United Nations General Assembly. It was introduced to honor all people of good will who devote their time and energy to help others. On this occasion, 62 cultural institutions from 12 cities will invite Volunteers during the 1st edition of the Volunteer's Ticket to Culture. More than 2,000 proposals are waiting for those willing to participate, including tickets to concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions and museums. Some institutions have prepared amazing extra attractions, not available for a broader audience, e.g. backstage visits. This is the first such campaign in Poland, created especially for Volunteers. The hosts of the campaign include: The Polish National Centre for Culture, the Centre for the Thought of John Paul II and The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation.

The Volunteer's Ticket to Culture is a project dedicated to all Volunteers, both those cooperating with cultural institutions and those involved in other areas. Its purpose is to change the perception of Volunteers by creating a platform gathering cultural institutions. The 1st edition involves 62 cultural institutions from 12 cities: Lublin, Warsaw, Wroc³aw, Kraków, Katowice, Olsztyn, Poznań, Gdynia, Gdańsk, Suszec, £ód¼ and Kielce. Over 2,000 proposals have been prepared for Volunteers.

For example, they may chose a guided tour at the Wilanów Palace, a special trip prepared by the Silesian Museum in Katowice, including a visit to the exhibition and an exploratory tour of post-industrial areas at the Katowice Coal Mine, or a visit to the Planetarium and Astronomical Observatory in Olsztyn. Experts from the House of Words in Lublin will demonstrate how an old typographic printing house used to look like and work and show visitors the work of a typesetter, and guides from the National Museum in Wroc³aw will show visitors around an exhibition of contemporary art, including works of Warhol, Rauschenberg, Beuys, Kiefer, etc. And these are only a few of the attractions prepared for the 1st edition of the Volunteer's Ticket to Culture.
