Gdańsk University of Technology for Students Debate "Enter the Job Market with Success"

High unemployment among young people is one of the main problems of the Polish job market. What is the cause and how can it be remedied? These questions will be discussed during debate organized by Gdańsk University of Technology and The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation.

High unemployment rate among the young remains a key challenge on the Polish job market. The idea behind the debate "Enter the Job Market with Success" is to encourage young people to look into the challenges and obstacles they will face at the start of their careers and show them how to maximise their chances of success in their first job search, said Krzysztof Kaczmar, President of the The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation.

The debate will take place on 29 May, in the Main Hall of Gdańsk University of Technology. The panellists - representatives of Gdańsk University of Technology, Citi Handlowy's HR experts, local entrepreneurs and business consultants, will attempt to answer the questions how to find the first job, what are the obstacles to finding employment by young people, what competences employers look for in candidates, when you should consider starting a business instead of finding employment and how to go about it.

Students will be invited to take part in workshops training job-seekers how to write a CV and a letter of application, present yourself during a job interview. Organizers will also offer an assessment centre stimulation to those who wish to go through the procedure.

"Enter the Job Market with Success" conference will also include the finals of First Million competition organized for the students of Gdańsk University of Technology. For two weeks starting 12 May, the students will have competed as teams to enter the finals. The three top ranking teams will win prizes: 3000, 2000 and 1000 złotys respectively.

The idea behind First Million, a game created by The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation, is to educate players in managing finances. The goal is to win a virtual first million by making a variety of decisions: investing with the use of financial instruments available in the game, making life choices such as taking courses or buying a flat. The game was designed to reflect market realities helping players to gain practical skills, learn to manage their budgets, develop investment strategies and estimate risks. Along with the financial aspects, a player needs to satisfy their avatar's life needs, maintaining his or her life standard and happiness levels.
