The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation awarded with the Mayor of the City of Gdańsk Medal

The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation awarded with the Mayor of the City of Gdańsk Medal The Foundation received the medal in appreciation of our contribution to the Museum of Amber - section of Gdańsk History Museum. The award was handed to the Foundation on 21 March in the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Hall.

The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation has supported Gdańsk Amber Museum for five years. In 2006 it received a grant for the purchase of "Gierło lizard" - Poland's only and one of two in the world, natural "inclusion" of a lizard in Baltic amber. In 2011 the Foundation financed the acquisition of another unique animal in amber inclusion, Solifugae spider.

Krzysztof Kaczmar, Director of The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation, accepted the award from Paweł Adamowicz, Mayor of the City of Gdańsk. "We are extremely proud of this token of recognition, all the more so, that the protection of cultural heritage is one of the priorities of The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation. We have supported projects of high value to the Polish culture, both nationally and regionally, for many years. The Amber Museum goes beyond teaching the public about the history of Gdańsk amber crafts. It also promotes "Baltic gold" as one of Poland's symbols." said Krzysztof Kaczmar, Director of The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation.

Protection of cultural heritage is one of the Foundation's key areas of interest. In 2002 the Foundation received special recognition by the Minister of Culture, for establishing the annual Aleksander Gieysztor Award, and in 2003, the award and the title of Culture Patron. In 2010 the Minister of Culture and National Heritage awarded The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation with the honorary Order of Merit for Polish Culture. In 2011 The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation was named Patron of Bydgoszcz Garden of Arts, in appreciation of its assistance in the purchase of Roses in a Vase, a painting by Leon Wyczółkowski, for L. Wyczółkowski Museum in Bydgoszcz.
