Anti-virus software

Anti-virus software is your first line of defense against threats on the Internet. We recommend that you use well-tried and professional security solutions from renowned providers of anti-virus tools, and keep them updated.

Software updates

Update your anti-virus software on a regular basis. This way you will protect your computer from viruses and Trojans.

Do not forget to update your operating system and web browser. Updates remove errors in software which may be used by a third party to access confidential data. Regular updates will help you avoid gaps in your system that can be exploited by unauthorized individuals or programs.

Firewalls

A firewall controls and limits incoming and outgoing network traffic. It also helps conceal your computer address from hackers and scanning software. A firewall is, above all, a useful tool that reinforces the protection of a Client’s privacy from persons who may steal their confidential data. Windows operating systems have their own firewalls already installed.

Suspicious sites, e-mails and programs

Even if you have an anti-virus program and a firewall you should still adhere to the primary online security rules:

  • Do not enter suspicious websites, especially if you see an alert that such site may be dangerous.
  • Do not open suspicious e-mail attachments and do not click on suspicious links (if you see a message from an unknown source in your mailbox ‘delete without opening it’ is always the best course of action).
  • Do not install any software from untrusted sources.
  • Scan all downloaded files with anti-virus software before opening them.
